Job summary

Westwood Professional Services seeks a Project Engineer in Las Vegas, NV to join our transportation service team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of roadway design experience and will support various project types and managers.

You will prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates, using Civil3D, and ensure quality through QA procedures while coordinating with subconsultants and agencies. PE in NV or eligible within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Nevada or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive roadway design experience.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks across project types and sizes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates with a team.
• Create design calculations and CAD drawings using Civil3D.
• Maintain quality assurance procedures and high-quality output.
• Oversee technical aspects of tasks or projects.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, subconsultants and agencies.
• Identify applicable design codes and standards (MUTCD, AASHTO, ADA/PROWAG).
• Lead technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Conduct field reviews for design input and decisions.
• Participate in contract bidding and RFI/submittal review.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff as needed.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our transportation service team in Las Vegas, Nevada. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high‑level professional services to our clients.

Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of diverse roadway design experience. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types, project sizes, and project managers.

What You’ll Do

• Work with a team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Prepare supporting design calculations and detailed construction drawings using Civil 3D
• Produce high‑quality work and implement and maintain quality assurance procedures
• Oversee the technical aspects of various tasks or projects
• Coordinate with other disciplines, support services and subconsultants
• Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
• Identify applicable codes, standards or other design requirements
• Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates
• Perform field reviews and other assessments for use in design
• Participate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittals and RFIs
• Develop and track milestones to ensure on‑time and on‑budget delivery for assigned tasks
• Make decisions independently regarding various issues and methods
• Prioritize and manage own workload
• Mentor, train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel
• Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism
