Job summary

Kenworth Truck Company, a PACCAR division in Washington, seeks a Project Engineer for Sustaining Structures and Interiors to design and develop truck programs. You will lead heavy-duty vehicle structures, apply Creo/Pro-E, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust assemblies from concept through production.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, 5–7+ years in design, DFSS/Six Sigma, and proven project leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
5-7+ years of experience in product design and development.
Lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing scope, timing, and deliverables.
Strong expertise in cab structures, interiors, and multi-system integration.
Proficient in CAD tools (Creo/Pro-E) with understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
Six Sigma Green Belt or DFSS experience.

Here’s What You Will Do In This Role

Participate in the design and development of truck programs.
Utilize Creo/Pro-E to create optimized part and assembly of moderate to complex designs requiring independent judgment.
Work with internal and external organizations to validate the designs.
Utilize PACCAR and industry systems to manage the product implementation process, track costs, and support new product introductions.
Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
5-7+ years of experience in product design and development required, experience in heavy-duty vehicles or automotive structures/interiors preferred
Proven ability to lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing scope, timing, and deliverables
Strong expertise in cab structures, interiors, and multi-system integration, including structural components, packaging, and interface design
Proficient in CAD tools (Creo/Pro-E preferred) with solid understanding of materials, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (stamping, plastics, trim systems)
Demonstrated ability to drive system-level design decisions impacting fit & finish, durability, and overall product performance
Lead cross-functional teams (manufacturing, validation, suppliers) to execute projects and resolve issues related to quality, durability, and integration
Drive engineering solutions from concept through production to ensure successful product launch and implementation
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under limited direction and manage complex technical challenges
Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) or equivalent DFSS experience; demonstrated application of structured problem-solving methodologies to improve quality and performance
Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and divisions; serves as a technical resource and mentor to other

Preferred:

P.E. license (or in progress), experience supporting product launches, customer interactions, and supplier integration.

The salary range for Project Engineer - Sustaining Structures and Interiors is $104,100 - $162,900 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
