Job summary

EXP is seeking a Site Civil Project Engineer to join our national Buildings, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical practice. The role supports Site Civil/Land Development projects with hybrid work arrangements across major US cities, including Dallas.

You will prepare analyses and designs for drainage, grading, and utilities; coordinate with clients and agencies; and contribute to documentation and construction support.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of Civil Engineering/site civil/land development experience.
• PE certification required (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Proficient in CAD via AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Proficient in stormwater modeling software such as HEC-HMS, ICPR, SWMM, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Prepares engineering analysis, design, and calculations for site civil work (grading, drainage, utilities, erosion control).
• Coordinates with clients, government agencies, and other project leaders across time zones.
• Generates detailed reports to demonstrate compliance with local design guidelines.
• Employs modeling software for drainage and water/sewer design.
• Participates in construction document prep and design decisions.
• Maintains involvement during construction to respond to RFIs or revisions.
• Prepares scope/fee estimates on portions of projects or change orders.

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Site Civil team based in Chicago, Detroit, St Louis, Columbus, or Dallas with consideration for hybrid work arrangements. The professional will focus on Site Civil/Land Development projects supporting the Buildings, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical practices nationally. Project types and clients will vary with opportunities to be involved in projects across the United States.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Prepares engineering analysis, design, and calculations for all aspects of site civil work including but not limited to site access, grading, drainage, utility networks, and erosion control independently or with plan production support.
• Coordinates with clients, government agencies, and other project design leaders across multiple time zones.
• Generates detailed reports to demonstrate compliance with local design guidelines.
• Employs a variety of modeling softwares for drainage and water/sewer system design.
• Active in all aspects of construction document preparation and independently making design decisions.
• Maintains involvement with projects during construction as needed to respond to RFIs or make design revisions to accommodate unforeseens identified during construction.
• Prepares scope and fee estimates on portions of projects or change orders or assists with project procurement on occasion.

What Your Experience Looks Like

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in a Civil Engineering role (site civil/land development experience preferred).
• PE certification required (or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date).
• Proficient in CAD via AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Proficient in stormwater modeling software such as HEC-HMS, ICPR, SWMM, or similar.
• Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
• Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively within multi-discipline, remote project teams.
• Ability to plan one’s own time and manage the time of others, as needed.
• Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and approach new projects and agencies with sound engineering judgment.
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Forward-thinking to identify possible technical or schedule constraints at the onset of projects.
• Ability to travel for 1-2 day site inspection/meeting trips (one trip per month or less average).

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certificates, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
