Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital and mechanical projects at the Port Wentworth Mill. You will plan, execute, and deliver upgrades & repairs, coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, and vendors to boost equipment performance and uptime.

The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree and 3+ years of industrial experience, with emphasis on safety, cost control, and project reliability improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years supporting capital or maintenance projects in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with capital project development via gated Front-End Loading processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations, field investigations, and project support for capital projects and maintenance work.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables aligned with safety, reliability and business goals.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Purchasing, and vendors.
  • Prepare reports, planning layouts, and summaries to communicate progress.
  • Manage assigned tasks while developing project management and field execution skills.
  • Ensure work complies with safety procedures and practices.
  • Provide timely updates via reports, meetings, emails, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with contractors, Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing to meet objectives.
  • Support budgets, schedules, bids, requisitions, and project documentation.
  • Involve in field walks, equipment evaluations, and startup activities.
  • Identify safety, reliability, cost, and operational risks and develop practical solutions.
  • Project work may involve pumps, piping, tanks, conveyors, HVAC, and related mill infrastructure.
