Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. seeks an on-site MEP Project Engineer to support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination on commercial construction projects in the Tysons region, with on-site work at Baltimore, MD and Waynesboro, PA. Travel up to 50% is required and a U.S. citizenship clearance is noted.

You will assist the Project Manager, review drawings, coordinate with subcontractors, and help manage documentation, safety, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field.

• Familiarity with construction documents, submittal processes, and project management workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project operations.
• Coordinate MEP activities with subcontractors, design teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Track RFI responses, change orders, and field directives.
• Provide engineering support for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Perform field inspections to verify installation quality and adherence to design intent.
• Identify constructability issues and propose solutions early in the project lifecycle.
• Support commissioning, testing, and turnover activities.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, logs, and progress reports.
• Assist with schedule updates, procurement tracking, and cost control efforts.
• Prepare technical reports, meeting minutes, and coordination summaries.
• Ensure MEP work meets quality standards and safety protocols.

We are seeking a highly capable and well‑rounded MEP Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on commercial construction projects in the Tysons region. This role requires providing on‑site support at facilities in both Baltimore, MD, and Waynesboro, PA. Travel between these locations is required.

Responsibilities

Project Coordination

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day‑to‑day project operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related degree with 0+ years of experience.
• Strong understanding of cooling systems, electrical distribution, plumbing systems, and building codes.
• Proficiency with construction documents, submittal processes, and project management workflows.
• Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, SolidWorks and MS Project (or similar).
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and subcontractors.
• This role requires providing on‑site support at facilities in both Baltimore, MD, and Waynesboro, PA. Travel between these locations is required.
