Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America in Massillon, OH seeks an engineer to apply engineering principles to the design and implementation of projects. You will prepare scope and cost estimates, develop engineering, procurement and construction strategies, and design and manage projects.

Role includes monitoring scope, schedule and cost, coordinating commissioning, and providing maintenance support, with emphasis on ISO quality and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or other 4-year technical degree and related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare scope and cost estimate for assigned projects.
  • Maintains compliance with ISO Quality System responsibilities.
  • Develop an engineering, procurement and construction strategy for each project.
  • Design and implement approved projects.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Manage project construction.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and start-up.
  • Communicate project status to operations and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations and maintenance to identify and solve routine problems.

General Summary

Apply engineering principles and procedures to the design and implementation of assigned engineering projects.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or other 4-year technical degree and related experience.
  • Prior work experience in pulp & paper industry preferred, but not essential.
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
The essential functions of this position include but is not limited to:
  • Prepare scope and cost estimate for assigned projects.
  • Maintains compliance with ISO Quality System responsibilities.
  • Develop an engineering, procurement and construction strategy for each project.
  • Design and implement approved projects.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Manage project construction.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and start-up.
  • Communicate project status to operations and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations and maintenance to identify and solve routine problems.
Compensation And Benefits
  • Starting salary range for position: $84,400 to $127,200 annually.
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages - medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
