Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking a Project Engineer to support a premier K-12 education client in Martinez, CA. You will work under the owner's representation model alongside an experienced team, helping plan, coordinate, and deliver modernization and capital improvement projects.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in project construction, strong scheduling and documentation skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders. On-site role with mentorship and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; 1–2 years of project construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with design and bid processes; ability to read blueprints and schedules.
  • Strong communication, meeting coordination, and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on-site with design, bid, and project-phase scheduling under the Project Manager.
  • Provide status updates and manage cost/schedule reporting for the project.
  • Administer subcontracts, conduct pre-bid meetings, and support close-out activities.
  • Facilitate site meetings, document meeting minutes, and ensure contract compliance.

You'll be involved in the planning, coordination, and delivery of impactful school modernization and capital improvement projects, building a strong foundation in owner's representation and public sector construction. If you're looking to accelerate your career with mentorship, meaningful project exposure, and a respected client, we'd love to hear from you.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Assist top Project Manager on site in formulation of the design, bid, and Project phase scheduling of the assigned project(s).Provide update/status reporting for work in progress including costs and schedules.Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.Administer Project sub-contracts.Under the supervision of Project Manager(s) facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.Maintain accurate records.Under supervision of Project Manager(s) conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.Assist the project management team with various parts of the project such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development and execution.Assist in formulating the design, bid, and project phase of scheduling.Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings.Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to Project Manager.Under the supervision of Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies are received and documented.Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.Prepares field reporting for review by Project Manager.Perform QA/QC process.Review change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.Review RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team.Provide basic CPM scheduling and budget management.Review and maintain As Built drawings.Other duties as assigned.Attendance at work during normal business hours.Knowledge & Skills Required:Experience with design & bid formulation and project phase scheduling.Experience with the Addenda and Bid process.Ability to facilitate site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.Ability to communicate with various stakeholders, internal and external to the company.Demonstrate an understanding of how project documentation impacts the project flow.Ability to read blueprints.Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.Understand how your role contributes to the organization's goals.Deliver quality work product by role modeling organizational core values.Hold self accountable to individual and team goals.Consistently communicate and collaborate with team members and clients.Build relationships with peers, leaders, and clients.Proactively participate in self-development to continually enhance current skills and build new skills required to excel at current role and prepare for career progression.Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently.Demonstrate sound judgement and logical decisions making skills.Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.Preferred Education and Experience:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field, a combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degreeExperience: 1-2 years of experience in project constructionDSA or Public project experience required.#LI-SJ1Cumming Group is committed to providing Equal Employment Opportunity in its personnel policies and practices.
