Job Summary
The Project Engineer IV is a recognized technical authority who handles the most critical, large‑scale capital projects and is a subject‑matter expert for the project execution process and engineering standards. Operating at an advanced‑to‑expert level across technical and cognitive skills, this role drives strategic thinking, high‑level risk management, and successful execution. This role is also recognized as an expert in financial governance and the capital funding (AFCE) process.
Essential Duties
- Serve as the primary technical authority for the plant's capital portfolio.
- Approve major design deviations and provide high‑level solutions for execution roadblocks ensuring all engineering solutions meet or exceed standards.
- Mentor other engineers on sound engineering principles and designs.
- Lead critical decision‑making processes, utilizing expert‑level data analysis, reasoning, and risk identification.
- Serve as the recognized SME of standards, ensuring projects do not advance to the next phase without a fully defined scope, budget, and adherence to the Project Execution Process and engineering standards.
- Develop and present comprehensive business cases for large‑scale capital projects.
- Ensure projects do not move to the execution phase without a fully defined, locked‑in scope, schedule, and budget.
- Drive high‑level continuous improvement and adaptability strategies across the engineering department to prevent capital project delays or budget overruns.
- Lead cross‑functional teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, managing complex scopes that include major site expansions and critical technology upgrades.
- Leverage advanced communication skills to influence without authority, managing complex stakeholder relationships up to the executive level.
- Assist management in monitoring the workload of the project engineering team and identify when external engineering firms are required to supplement internal execution capabilities.
- Assist in elevating the capabilities of the broader project engineering network through practical guidance, knowledge sharing, and translating lessons learned into best practices.

Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in an engineering role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to influence and lead others over whom you have no direct authority.
- Willingness to drive change in the interest of continuous improvement.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

- Advanced knowledge of financial governance, the capital funding (AFCE) process, and large‑scale portfolio management.
- Advanced knowledge of corporate engineering standards, acting as a recognized SME for the project execution process.
- Ability to develop, analyze, and present comprehensive business cases for multi‑million‑dollar capital investments.
- Ability to evaluate, approve, and oversee major design deviations and provide high‑level engineering solutions for execution roadblocks.
- Skill in expert‑level root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical reasoning.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and revise complex technical documents and engineering drawings.
- Expertise in standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications Preferred
- 10+ years of experience within manufacturing or roofing/building products.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
- Advanced proficiency in engineering and project management tools.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and revise technical documents and drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, prioritize, and execute plans to deliver results on multiple projects.
- Large‑scale capital project management skills.

Management and Travel

Compensation
Base salary range: $112,000–$154,000. Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
