Job summary

ACCIONA is leading the SR400 Express Lanes Project in Georgia, seeking a Project Engineer – ITS to support field installation, testing, and coordination for intelligent transportation systems along the corridor.

The role involves coordinating fiber, power, cameras, CCTV, DMS, and coordinating with field crews, subcontractors, and designers to ensure project requirements are met and safety standards are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure, transportation, roadway, or construction projects.
• Familiarity with GDOT projects and knowledge of AASHTO and FHWA standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of ITS systems across the SR400 corridor.
• Coordinate fiber optics, communications networks, power systems, CCTV cameras, DMS, traffic detection equipment, and related civil works.

• Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and technical documentation; maintain as-built records and track RFIs and submittals.
• Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, fiber-optic testing, and system acceptance activities.
• Monitor installation progress, subcontractor performance, schedule, cost, quality, and safety compliance.

The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

The Project Engineer – ITS will support field installation, testing, and engineering coordination for intelligent transportation systems across the SR400 corridor. This role supports short-term planning, coordination of fiber, power and field devices, installation records, and acceptance testing to help ensure systems meet project requirements. The Project Engineer works closely with superintendents, ITS and electrical subcontractors, vendors, roadway teams, and senior engineers to track progress, resolve installation issues, and support safe field work.

Key Responsibilities:
