Job summary

Booth & Associates in Charlotte, NC seeks a senior engineer to mentor a small team of engineers and CAD designers and to seal design work for General/Physical Layout and Protection & Control packages of substation projects.

The role includes managing customer relations and pursuing select business development opportunities with key clients, reporting to the Divisional Manager.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Five to ten years of applicable experience required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Strong mentorship and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and schedule work of junior engineers and CAD operators on candidate’s assigned team.
  • Act as Customer’s Point of Contact to manage existing projects and customer satisfaction, and pursue future business.
  • Proficient in substation engineering areas: physical layout, protection/control, relay settings programming, field support, commissioning, relay testing.
  • Support safety culture by following safety standards and best practices.
  • Perform and direct project design, engineering calculations, and use design software.
  • Prepare complex project documents including specifications and bid documents.
  • Review drawings and supervise training of division Project Engineers I and II.
  • Interface well with employees at all levels.

Candidate will be the sealing engineer for the majority of work produced by the team and will also act to manage customer relations and well as business development with select clients. This position reports to the Divisional Manager.

Candidate will be the sealing engineer for the majority of work produced by the team and will also act to manage customer relations and well as business development with select clients. This position reports to the Divisional Manager.

Requirements
  • Mentor and schedule work of junior engineers, designers, CAD operators on candidate’s assigned team.
  • Capability to be Customer’s Point of Contact to manage existing projects and customer satisfaction, as well as future business and upcoming project plans.
  • Proficient in multiple areas of substation engineering such as physical layout design, protection/control design, relay settings programming, field support, substation commissioning, relay testing.
  • Support and contribute to a company-wide safety culture by following established safety standards, policies, and best practices, helping to ensure a safe environment for employees, clients, and the public.
  • Performs and directs project design. This includes tasks such as performing engineering calculations; using computer design software and referencing appropriate engineering procedures and design manuals.
  • Performs and/or directs the preparation of complex project documents including specifications and bid documents.
  • Performs and directs complex drawing reviews such as checking and marking up full plan sets to ensure the plans are a clear, concise, and thorough graphical representation of the intent of the design.
  • Supervises work and assists in training of division Project Engineers I and II.
  • Performs basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must interface well with employees at all levels.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required. Five to ten years of applicable experience required. Licensed Professional Engineer.
