Job summary

ONEOK is seeking a Project Engineer to lead medium-capex facility construction projects within the Natural Gas Gathering & Processing business. You will drive initiatives from initiation through closeout, coordinating with Operations, Commercial teams, and third-party contractors.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, strong communication, and a track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget. Hybrid work schedule: in‑office Mon–Thu, remote Fri.

Qualifications

The Project Engineer will lead execution of medium‑capex facility construction projects within the Natural Gas Gathering & Processing business, managing projects from initiation through closeout. This role requires an Engineer with 10+ year experience who proactively drives projects to completion, builds strong, trust‑based relationships with Operations and Commercial stakeholders, and communicates clearly and transparently. Projects typically have CAPEX in the $1M–$50M range and involve coordinating cross‑functional teams and third‑party contractors to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. You will be accountable for developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and milestone plans, and for ensuring milestones and deadlines are consistently met. A core responsibility is establishing and managing all project contracts and purchase orders and ensuring work is executed in strict accordance with those agreements. You must have experience with building ASME B314, DOT pipeline, and 195 regulations. The ideal candidate brings proven facilities project and automation technical experience in the Midstream or Oil & Gas sectors, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to build stakeholder trust and deliver projects on a schedule and within budget. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule: in‑office presence Monday - Thursday, with remote work on Friday. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Direct and/or perform engineering and/or project management activities related to design, procurement, construction, or optimization of company assets including but not limited to:
• Transmission and/or gathering systems, measurement and regulation facilities, compressor and pump stations and dehydration plants
• NGL fractionation, natural gas processing and/or hydrocarbon storage facilities
• Construction plans and implementation
• Management of third-party contract resources
• Provide technical and/or engineering assistance on matters including but not limited to:
• Equipment/system design
• Pipeline sizing and evaluation
• Pipeline control
• Pipeline facility design, construction, operation, and maintenance
• Policies and procedures
• Process Safety
• Perform and review project management activities including but not limited to:
• Bid proposals and contracts
• AFE preparation and cost management
• Management of Change (MOC)
• Material/equipment specifications and selection
• Construction plans and support
• Creating and updating schedules / timelines
• Preparing project progress and other reports
• Managing change orders
• Identify equipment efficiencies, complete hydraulic calculations, determine valve and pipeline sizing and perform gas flow analysis.

• Perform and/or provide support for economic analysis related to potential new projects, including but not limited to operational estimates, determining equipment efficiencies, and needed enhancements and conducting definitive studies for potential acquisitions
• Identify opportunities for improvement and assist with implementation of new processes

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field and the following job-related experience preferred

Work Experience

• Experience and knowledge of engineering design and criteria for natural gas and/or NGLs in pipeline systems
• Experience at this level is typically attained with seven or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management
• Experience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths, exhibiting a positive example and influence that leads to employee, project, and stakeholder successes
• Experience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.

• Experience with and knowledge of pipelines or hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenance
