Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Charlotte, NC seeks a Project Engineer in Engineering Services to deliver solutions that protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

You will apply power system automation concepts, train customers on design and commissioning, and prepare detailed design documents and reports. Willingness to travel up to 25% and collaborate in a team is essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with electric power systems and automation.
• Knowledge of protection, control, integration, and communications.
• Experience with power system design, studies, ICT, and protective relays.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally at least 25%.
• Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and work well in a team.

As a Project Engineer in Engineering Services, you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

Typical Day Responsibilities

• Possesses, understands and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of power system automation and related SEL products.
• Train and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
• Complete and implement assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
• Participate in the preparation of functional design specifications.
• Prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
• 5+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and power system automation practices and philosophies
• Good knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applications
• Working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applications
• Willing to travel both domestically and internationally a minimum of 25% based on focus area
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training certificate
• Electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integrator experience
• Project engineering experience
• Working knowledge of Vision or other project management tracking software

Pay Range

Pay Range Data $115,300-$130,000 We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
