Job summary

ENGICON CM is seeking a Project Engineer/PM support for the Los Angeles area, focusing on bond-eligible capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects within a district bond program. The role excludes routine M&O tasks and centers on planning, design, construction, commissioning, and related PM functions.

Responsibilities include supporting Project Managers, coordinating RFIs, maintaining plans, validating submittals, and documenting progress and contractor changes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project/construction management for commercial/public/educational facilities >$15M.
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Construction Management or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and engineering support to Project Managers and Construction Managers.
  • Coordinate with Architect for timely responses to RFIs and information requests.
  • Maintain current contract plans and specifications; ensure records are up to date.
  • Verify contractor’s record drawings before monthly progress payments.
  • Perform field checks to ensure compliance with specs, standards, and DSA requirements.
  • Document progress with photos, daily reports, and notes.

Position Description:

This position is bond-eligible and is strictly limited to work associated with capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects as defined under the BuildLACCD Bond Program. Duties performed under this position shall not include routine maintenance, repair, or operational tasks that fall within the responsibilities of facilities Maintenance & Operations (M&O). The scope of this role is exclusively tied to bond-eligible activities such as planning, design, construction, commissioning, and related project management functions necessary to deliver capital improvements consistent with LACCD’s Capital Construction Bond Program requirements and legal limitations governing bond fund expenditures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and engineering support to the Project Managers and Construction Managers.
  • Coordinate with Architect for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications.
  • Confirm contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor.
  • Makes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) Requirements.
  • Document progress of construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects, logging photographs, daily project reports and notes as required.
  • Assist in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Log and track status of project change order proposals, field orders, and approved change orders.
  • Maintain project files and record drawings.
  • Log and review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Assist in coordinating and recording minutes of meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Assist in review of submittal procedures, RFI’s and monthly invoices.
  • Perform other project support duties as directed.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management of commercial and/or public or educational facility construction projects with values in excess of $15M.
  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Construction Management or related field required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design process.
