Job summary

RTX seeks a Project Engineer in Rockford, IL to support the Air Turbine Starter and Gearbox lines. You will lead RCCA efforts, support field failure investigations, and coordinate drawing changes to drive quality and profitability.

The role requires a STEM degree and hands-on mechanical aptitude along with CAD/MATLAB proficiency and collaboration across departments. Relocation eligibility is offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience using analytical and developmental software such as MATLAB, CAD, NX, and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint).
  • Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Degree.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical hardware is preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Project Engineering support and ownership for Air Turbine Starter (ATS) and Gearbox product line
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction
  • Provide customer support for Field Failure investigations
  • Resolve Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs)
  • Manage piece part supplier transitions
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
  • Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering turn backs.
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing changes

What You Will Do

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
