Job summary

RTX is seeking a Project Engineer I for the Hot Section Engineering team at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. You will lead part-level ownership, plan tasks, and drive execution to ensure IPT goals across life-cycle activities from validation to production support.

What Will You Do

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

Pratt and Whitney Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Project Engineer to support our HSE team. The Project Engineer will be responsible for part-level ownership, task planning, and execution to ensure the IPT achieves goals for the Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT). The IPT has responsibility for the entire life cycle of the part and as such the Project Engineer will be engaged in activities ranging from validation testing to Engineering Changes, from production delivery support to field support and investigations.

As a Project Engineer I at Pratt & Whitney, you will......

• Provide project management to the Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) that includes design, structural, durability, aero, materials, and manufacturing engineers for both Sustainment and CIP funded activities.
• Track project progress and communicate status and forecasts related to schedule, budget, and technical requirements to the IPT/CIPT.
• Support hardware and validation related activities for the IPTs, including working with support organization on the execution of hardware delivery and appropriate planning / execution of any required validation / testing activities.
• Travel 10%

What You Will Learn

• Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering obtained by start date
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: product design, drawing definition/ interpretation, material selection, thermal & structural analysis, manufacturing processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
• Minimum Cumulative 3.0 GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with project management and planning, including budget / schedule management, including toolsets (e.g., Agile, SAP, Primavera, and/or MS Project).
• Hot section gas turbine component and/or module level experience.
• Experience with Smartsheets, Jira, and/or Confluence
• Security Clearance or Ability to acquire

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
