Job summary

Samet Corporation is seeking Project Engineer I, II, or Project Coordinator to support project teams across multiple offices, including Greensboro, NC. The role focuses on coordination, documentation, and communication to keep schedules and budgets on track.

You will work with Project Managers, manage RFIs/submittals, and assist with procurement and site visits, while growing through Samet University and mentorship programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field (preferred).
  • Construction experience appropriate to the level (internship experience counts for entry roles).
  • Familiarity with construction and project management software such as Procore and Bluebeam and scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project) a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day project operations, coordination, and documentation.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, milestones, and quality benchmarks, and report on progress.
  • Maintain project documentation — RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, contracts, and logs.
  • Help manage communication with subcontractors, vendors, and clients, and serve as a point of contact for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and document meetings and site visits, and distribute updates and status reports.
  • Obtain construction‑related permits, file and post required notices, and support regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with subcontractor solicitation, procurement, and contracting, and facilitate material and equipment deliveries.
  • Monitor budgets, identify discrepancies, and help implement cost controls.
  • Learn, master, and apply Samet’s systems, processes, and software (Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling tools) to support project delivery.
  • Support quality control and safety compliance initiatives across the project.
  • Help identify potential issues or delays and elevate to the Project Manager.
  • Mentor and support junior team members (Project Engineer II) and keep project files organized and current.

Project Engineer I, II, & Project Coordinator

This is an evergreen talent-pipeline posting open across all six Samet offices — not a specific, currently open position.

Project Engineers and Coordinators are the engine room of a Samet project team. You keep information, documentation, and people moving, supporting Project Managers with schedules, budgets, submittals, RFIs, and day-to-day coordination that deliver high‑quality construction The Samet Way on time and on budget.

Levels & Experience
  • Project Coordinator — Focused on coordination and administration: documentation, communications, meeting minutes, procurement support, budgets, and serving as a point of contact for stakeholders. Typically 2–3 years in project coordination or construction administration.
  • Project Engineer — Supports Project Managers with day‑to‑day operations and technical detail — tracking schedules and budgets and maintaining RFIs, submittals, change orders, and minutes. A strong entry point for early‑career professionals.
  • Project Engineer II — A mid‑level role providing advanced technical and administrative support, mentoring junior engineers, handling permits and subcontractor coordination, and mastering Samet systems. Typically 3–5 years of construction experience.
What You’ll Do

Additional Requirements
  • Physical Demands: A primarily office‑based role with frequent, recurring visits to active construction sites. Regularly required to sit, walk (including on rough or uneven surfaces), use hands and fingers to handle equipment and files, reach, drive, bend, talk, see, and hear; occasionally required to stand, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crouch, or twist, and infrequently to crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Work Environment: An office environment with frequent, recurring visits to active construction sites, where noise and light levels may be higher and proper PPE is required.   • Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with the ability to learn industry‑standard construction software such as Procore and Bluebeam. Able to collaborate via Zoom or Teams and type professional correspondence.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to comprehend and execute detailed written and oral instructions using common‑sense reasoning, and to navigate problems involving concrete variables in conventional situations.
  • Certificates and Licenses: A valid driver’s license is required.
