Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer I to support planning, coordination, and execution of engineering aspects of product development projects in a hybrid office environment near Sparks, NV.

The role emphasizes developing project plans, schedules, and budgets; coordinating with cross-functional teams; and producing technical artifacts while maintaining documentation and risk management. A Top Secret clearance is preferred/required for advancement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Project Coordination Lead in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Iterate and revise these plans, schedules, and budgets during project execution to account for changes.
• Technical Support and preparation of technical review artifacts (PDR, CDR, TIMs, weekly IPT reviews).
• Plan and enforce creation and formal release of Technical Documentation and Program Artifacts; Review and enforce Configuration Management of Program technical data (drawings, specifications, test plans, test reports, etc.).
• Identify and document potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation plans.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and meeting minutes.
• Lead cross-functional teams to solve problems of varying levels of complexity; from simple one week projects to multi-year development efforts.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• 2-4 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
• Familiarity with development and manufacture of electronics assemblies and systems.
• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers.
• Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management.
• Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure.
• Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard.
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
• Ability to Obtain & Maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Essential Functions:

Active Secret or Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required.

• Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
• Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
• Hand and finger dexterity for computer use.
• Capability to work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting project sites.
