TRC Companies, Inc. in New York seeks an Engineer to support the DER & Microgrid team on energy efficiency and emerging tech projects, including BESS, solar, and microgrid design. You will work both independently and with teams on market-changing programs that promote electrification and resiliency.

The candidate will bring a technical background and strong communication skills to collaborate across disciplines and deliver impactful results while supporting nationwide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Experience with utility-scale BESS and system design.
• Experience with Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) technology.
• Experience with spreadsheet-based analysis techniques.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical systems is a strong plus.
• Interest in sustainability and green building.
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform electric demand forecasting for facilities planning electrification expansion.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation and operation of energy storage equipment.
• Develop and review calculations to estimate energy efficiency savings.
• Help develop proposals and client deliverables.

Overview

TRC is seeking a qualified individual to provide Engineering support to our DER & Microgrid team in New York and across the nation. Projects may include energy efficiency consulting and emerging technology research for: BESS and solar system design, LDES technology, energy management systems, microgrid design, demand side management, demand response, and distributed generation and storage.

The desired candidate will work both independently and collaboratively on market transforming projects and programs that promote energy efficiency, onsite power and micgrogrid design, electrification, and resiliency.

Responsibilities

• Perform electric demand forecasting for facilities or campuses planning for electrification expansion.


• As needed conduct site visits to verify installation and operation of baseline, replacement, or new energy using, generation, or storage equipment


• Develop and review calculations used to estimate savings for energy efficiency, electrification, and resiliency projects


• Help develop proposals, presentations, client deliverables such as documentation and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, Data Science, or related field.


• Demonstrated experience with utility scale BESS technology and system design.


• Specific experience with Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) technology.


• Experience with spreadsheet-based analysis techniques.


• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical systems is a strong plus.


• Academic and / or professional experience displaying a strong interest in sustainability and green building is a strong plus.


• Excellent oral and writing communication skills.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $70,408.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
