Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for heavy civil construction in Dallas, TX. You will assist with scheduling, procurement, budgeting, and coordinating trades under the project manager and field team.

The role is on site in Dallas with travel as needed. Background check and drug screen required; security clearance may be required per client needs. Proficiency in MS Office and Primavera is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is highly desired.
  • 12+ years of experience in construction as a Project Engineer.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specs, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of pre-construction and construction processes.

Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction

McMillen, Inc. is looking for a Project Engineer. Our Construction Engineers provide project planning, scheduling, procurement, and related technical and administrative support to lead individuals on the project. This position works closely with the project manager, superintendent, foremen and crews to support the overall needs of the project.

This position will be on site in our Dallas, TX office and will require travel to assigned project on an as needed basis.

All Construction Division offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen. In accordance with client requirements, security clearance is required and is determined based on background check results.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs scheduling of the project.
  • Manages revenue, cost, and cash flow.
  • Contracts, manages and coordinates sub-contractors and product vendors.
  • Participates in the preparation and implementation of permanent design management and quality control.
  • Maintains close contact and good working relationships with client representatives.
  • Assists in Operations planning.
  • Administers contracts and subcontracts.
  • Trains and directs Field Engineers.
  • Develops and maintains owner relations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is highly desired in the related fields of Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Project Engineer: 12+ years of experience working in construction.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • An excellent understanding of pre-construction and construction processes.
  • Must work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction and adheres to feedback from site superintendent and project managers.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance in accordance with project and company work hours.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office, Primavera is a plus, Heavy Job/Heavy Bid is a plus.
  • Working experience managing engineers.

Compensation Package:
  • Pay Range: $120,000 - $130,000 (DOE)
  • Benefits: McMillen provides a full Benefits Program comprising medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, EAP, 401(k) and match, 9 paid holidays, generous PTO, opportunity for stock ownership, and wellness reimbursement.
  • Temporary Away from Home Assignment Benefits: Field Engineers assigned to projects more than 70 miles from their residence are eligible for:
  • Weekly Subsistence: For housing and meals.
  • Home Leave: Monthly home rotation, travel reimbursement up to $500, and 16 hours of time off.
