Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary studies from scoping through pre-feasibility and feasibility stages in support of the Growth and Innovation Group.

You will manage technical workstreams, engage consultants, and collaborate with Exploration, Technical Services, Operations, Projects, Environment, Permitting, and Finance to advance opportunities while ensuring safety, quality, and budget alignment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of engineering and project development experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience supporting studies through Concept, Initial Assessment, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility stages.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and stage-gate project development processes.
  • Working knowledge of exploration, mine planning, mineral processing, infrastructure development, and project execution strategies.
  • Engineering or operational process plant experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple and concurrent cross functional studies from IA through Feasibility Study stages.
  • Develop scopes and manage engagement of consultants to budget and quality.
  • Source internal and external resources to support IA, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility studies.
  • Document and present Concept, IA, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility study results.
  • Develop study scopes, economic filters, and site-specific considerations with site teams.
  • Monitor study progress, risks, and opportunities; ensure quality deliverables.

Job Description:

The Project Engineer willlead studiestosupport the development and execution of studiesrequiredto advance opportunities through the Growth and Innovation Group’s Project Pipeline. Reporting to the Study Director, the Project Engineer will coordinate and manage technical workstreams associated with mining, processing, infrastructure, and capital project studies from scoping through pre-feasibility and feasibility stagesand prepare for execution.

The Project Engineer willbe responsible forcoordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities, managing technical consultants, and ensuring study deliverables are completedin accordance withCompany standards, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations. The role will work closely with Exploration, Technical Services, Operations, Projects, Environment, Permitting, and Finance teams to support study development and investment decision-making.

This position will assist in evaluating technical alternatives, project risks, execution strategies, and capital and operating cost assumptions.The Project Engineer will help develop study reports(such as PFS and FSreports),technical presentations,economic evaluations,and business casesrequiredto advance projects through the Company’s investment pipeline.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Lead multiple and concurrent cross functional studies from Initial Assessment (IA) through to the start of Feasibility Study stage following SSR’s stage gate process and Investment standards

  • Develop scopes, and manage the engagement of consultant organizations and ensure their delivery is timely, to budget and of appropriate quality

  • Source and manage internal and external cross functional technical resources to support the completion of Concept, IA, Pre-feasibility , and Feasibility Studies.

  • Document and present the results of Concept, IA, Pre-feasibility , and Feasibility Studies

  • Work with site teams to develop study scope and execution, as well as site and project specific economic filters for exploration targets.

  • Analyze site business plans and support the strategic business planning process.

  • Develop and maintain study schedules, work plans, budgets, and resource plans.

  • Monitor study progress and identify risks, constraints, and opportunities.

  • Review technical deliverables for quality, completeness, and consistency with study objectives.

  • Assist in the preparation of project execution strategies and development plans.

  • Support development of CAPEX and OPEX estimates and associated assumptions.

  • Lead technical trade-off studies and option evaluations.

  • Contribute to the development of technical reports, investment memoranda, and executive presentations.

  • Coordinate with Environmental, Permitting, and Community Relations teams regarding project requirements.

  • Promote safe, sustainable, and responsible project development practices.

  • Works independently on complex assignments requiring sound engineering judgment.

  • Regularly interacts with internal and external stakeholders to achieve study objectives.

  • Provide guidance to technical team and mentorship to junior staff.

  • Supports budget development and cost tracking activities for assigned studies.

Is This You?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 8 years of engineering and project development experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects.

  • Experience supporting studies through Concept, Initial Assessment, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility stages.

  • Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and stage-gate project development processes.

  • Working knowledge of exploration, mine planning, mineral processing, infrastructure development, and project execution strategies.

  • Study experience working with professional services consultants is an advantage.

  • Engineering or operational Process Plant experience is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safe and sustainable work practices.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines, cultures, and geographic regions.

For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $120,000-$135,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
