Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer (Water/Wastewater construction) for the Mid-Atlantic, open to DC, Maryland, and Virginia markets. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and managing onsite construction engineering activities for water and wastewater projects.

Ideal candidates will have heavy commercial, highway, or industrial experience, with strong communication, teamwork, and project leadership skills. Registration as a PE is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred or equivalent training.
• 5+ years of construction engineering experience.
• Bridge experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate and manage onsite construction engineering activities for Water/Wastewater projects.
• Manage project engineering personnel, assignments and related admin tasks.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with requirements and support project schedule (Primavera P6).
• Provide technical support during planning, design interpretation, and conflict resolution.
• Develop and administer project engineering documents (submittals, RFIs, expediting, payments).
• Represent company in meetings with A/E, client and project management.
• Interface onsite departments to resolve problems and protect schedule.
• Oversee pre-construction, design-build services and business development for the project.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Project Engineer (Water/Wastewater construction) in the Mid-Atlantic, open to candidates in the DC, Maryland, Virginia markets.

We are open to candidates with heavy commercial experience, highway experience or industrial experience also

Summary:

• Working onsite with the Team to plan, develop, coordinate, and manage onsite construction engineering activities for Water/Wastewater projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities. Includes personnel planning and administration, work assignments, disciplinary actions, etc.
• Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule (Primavera P6).
• Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of deign conflicts; contractibility reviews, etc.
• Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents (submittals, RFI's, expediting material deliveries, payment of Subcontractors/Vendors and Owner pay requests).
• Represent company, project and/or department during A/E, client and project management meetings.
• Interface all on-site departments as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule.
• Oversee all pre-construction services, design build services, and business development for the project.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred or equivalent technical training and related experience.
• 5+ years of similar construction engineering experience.
• Bridge experience is a strong plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.
