Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Utility Systems MV Solutions in Wendell, NC. This hybrid role offers ownership across the GTD value chain, including coordination of MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, PLCs/SCADA, and E-Houses, with relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

You will mentor junior engineers, influence technical standards, and collaborate with customers, utilities, and EPC partners to deliver optimized system solutions.

Qualifications

• Five or more years designing and delivering electrical power distribution, substation, or utility systems.
• Knowledge of MV protection and control technologies (SCADA, IEC 61850, DNP3).
• Ability to review electrical schematics and identify risks, gaps, and improvements.
• Experience managing Bills of Material in an ERP environment (SAP preferred).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Leading technical outcomes for MV substation and utility projects from feasibility to handover.
• Serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers, utilities, and EPC partners.
• Driving engineering execution and integrating Siemens and third-party technologies.

We are seeking a **Senior Project Engineer** – Utility Systems MV Solutions to take end-to-end ownership across the generation, transmission, and distribution (GTD) value chain. You’ll make a difference with:

• Technical Authority & Solution Ownership: Leading technical outcomes for MV substation and utility projects from feasibility to handover. Review and approve one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and protection/control/automation philosophies.
• Customer-Facing & Commercial Partnership: Serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers, utilities, and EPC partners, collaborating closely with internal teams to influence solution strategies and order decisions.
• Multi-functional & System Integration Leadership: Driving engineering execution (design coordination, manufacturing support, and commissioning) and integrating Siemens and third-party technologies, including MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, PLCs/SCADA, and E-Houses.
• Mentorship & Continuous Improvement: Mentoring junior engineers, influencing technical standards, and leading initiatives to improve engineering quality, scalability, and efficiency.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Five (5) or more years’ experience designing and delivering electrical power distribution, substation, or utility systems, with a strong track record evaluating customer specifications and delivering optimized system solutions.
• Proven knowledge of Medium Voltage protection and control technologies (SCADA, IEC 61850, DNP3).
• Proficiency reviewing electrical schematics and identifying risks, gaps, and improvements.
• Experience managing Bills of Material in an ERP environment (SAP preferred).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MV switchgear, E-House solutions, third-party integration, factory testing, and site commissioning.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and elevating team performance.
• Ability to handle contending priorities while maintaining technical precision.
• Solid understanding of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards.
• Advanced proficiency with Engineering Base (strongly preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Master’s degree in Engineering (Power Systems) or equivalent field.
• Experience using Salesforce or other CRM in a technical sales or solution support environment.
