Job summary

Onni Group in Chicago is seeking a Project Engineer to lead construction document management, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, reports, procurement and change orders, while coordinating between Project Management and Superintendent staff.

You will support preconstruction, tracking estimates and budgets, manage document control, attend meetings, and monitor procurement and field issues, using MS Project, Bluebeam and the MS Office suite.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Project Management or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction and building codes.
• Proficiency in MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Windows and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of preconstruction, estimating, coordination, execution, and closeout of construction projects.
• Report to Superintendent/ Project Manager and closely work with Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, field staff, subcontractors, design consultants, third parties, city officials, utility companies, and other internal Onni departments.
• Construction Phase Responsibilities: Manage document control including drawings, specifications, and other supplemental information; Coordinate and attend meetings, and distribute meeting minutes; Utilize project management softwares for processing RFIs and submittals; Track material lead times and procurement status; Attend coordination meetings and track action items / to-do lists; Process permits and city approvals; Assist with change order management and tracking; Develop and manage tracking logs (permits, contracts, change orders, procurement, RFIs, submittals, punch lists).
• Field Responsibilities: Assist superintendents with overseeing site activities and communicating with subcontractors; Process purchase orders and track deliveries; Document site issues, design changes, and potential cost impacts; Participate in site safety reviews; Develop and maintain punch lists and deficiency lists; Coordinate site visits from consultants and third parties.
