Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Project Engineer, Commissioning - Data Center Facilities in a full-time role requiring travel. You will serve as commissioning agent for mechanical systems, lead tests, and document results on-site across data center projects.

The position emphasizes collaborating with clients, vendors, and contractors, reviewing design criteria, and developing site-specific commissioning plans to ensure quality and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military or industrial training with 3+ years of mechanical/controls experience.
  • Data Center/Mission critical experience preferred.
  • Experience in commissioning or maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong communication with general contractors and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with regulations, codes, and construction materials.

Responsibilities

  • Act as commissioning agent for mechanical systems and document testing on-site.
  • Develop site commissioning plans and participate in factory witness tests.
  • Review design criteria, specs, drawings, and submittals related to commissioning.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and maintain logs, checklists, and reports.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and testing technicians throughout projects.
  • Submit progress notes to project/facility management and respond to inquiries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a commissioning agent ofMechanical systems directing and documenting testing on-site.
  • Mechanical systems including cooling/heating systems, plumbing, fire, fuel oil, and BMS systems in a variety of environments
  • Manage projects andplans,provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary engineering commissioning role for large facility projects.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
  • The Commissioning agents adhere to a thorough quality management/QC process and procedures that validate and document our client’s systems.
  • Identify and assemble required documentation, drawings, and data from clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Develop site-specific commission plans.
  • Develop and/or review factory witness test procedures for major equipment.
  • Attend factory witness tests and provide a detailed report identifying deficiencies.
  • Schedule and lead commissioning meetings while ensuring proper documentation.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various building Mechanical systems, of various systems Mechanical systems including cooling/heating systems, plumbing, fire, fuel oil, and BMS systems.
  • Complete documentation in real time using cloud data collection or hard copy forms when required.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects, write comprehensive final commissioning report.
  • Help lead and manage any external resources; Schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings; Attend construction and coordination meetings if required for the project.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners’ agents as needed; Execute project assignments; Interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, etc.
  • Submit progress reports and commissioning meeting notes to the project and facility manager.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a manner that exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military or industrial training with 3+years of experience in mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or related field of Construction Management.
  • Previous Data Center/Mission critical experience.
  • Experience in the commissioning or maintaining of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with working with general contractors and excellent skills in communicating expectations.
  • Knowledgeable in major regulations, industry codes and standards as well as basic construction materials, means and methods.
  • Experience commissioning in data centers is strongly preferred.

Salary Transparency Statement

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $135,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation wereasonablyexpect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
