Job summary

Sletten Construction Company is looking for a candidate to assist in managing commercial construction projects. You'll help organize, control, monitor, and record project activities alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent.

This role requires a four-year engineering degree or extensive experience, with tasks ranging from maintaining records to assisting in estimating and coordinating with suppliers. Ideal candidates should be detail-oriented, able to interpret specifications, and have effective communication skills.

Qualifications

Primary Function

Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in organizing, controlling, monitoring, and recording activities that are part of the construction management of a commercial construction project.

Typical Duties

• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and handle minor technical problems during construction.
• Maintain records of job progress, costs, material usage, and related documentation.
• Assist in planning and scheduling of the job.
• Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements, quantities, qualities, and pricing.
• Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate handling and expedite delivery of materials.
• Assist with estimating, including quantity takeoffs, site visits, estimating the work, participating in estimate reviews, and helping to close out bids.
• Manage submittals, change orders, and RFIs.
• Submit permit applications with required certifications and maintain accurate records.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

Education and experience requirements include a four‑year engineering degree or extensive (four or more years) experience/knowledge in construction, design, and finance. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team, travel as required, and familiarity with Sletten Safety Policy.
