Job summary

MEB General Contractors in Virginia seeks a Project Engineer to support Commercial/Architectural projects—schools, libraries, recreation centers—and to connect plans and contract requirements to field execution.

You will manage submittals, RFIs, drawings, and project records, coordinate with the project team, schedule and procure, and support closeout. Salary range is $72,000–$100,000 per year; starting pay depends on experience and credentials.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in construction project engineering or related internship experience.
• Ability to read architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Experience managing submittals and RFIs with architects/consultants.
• Public or institutional project exposure preferred (K-12, municipal, civic, recreation).
• Design-build exposure is a plus; ability to move submittals/RFIs with designer on our team or theirs.
• Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office proficiency; Primavera/P6 and Viewpoint exposure a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/construction management/building construction preferred, or equivalent experience.
• OSHA 30 preferred. Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage submittals, RFIs, and drawing updates, and drive responses to closure.
• Maintain meeting documentation and project records.
• Track materials from approval through delivery, including long-lead items.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Superintendent, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure field team has current drawings and approved materials.
• Support scheduling and procurement.
• Support change management and quality control.
• Support project closeout, and other live project needs.
