Job summary

BKF Engineers in Salinas, CA is seeking a Project Engineer with a few years of experience and a strong Civil 3D foundation to work on land development and infrastructure projects. The role involves applying standard engineering principles with minimal supervision and mentoring junior staff.

You will design site development, utilities, and drainage, prepare reports, and support permitting, with opportunities for professional development and cross-office collaboration, including travel to BKF

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in land development working on site development and design of subdivisions, utilities, roads, and public works.
• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
• EIT certification is highly preferred and prioritized.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordination of site development projects for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public works developments.
• Preparation of grading and drainage plans in compliance with local and regional standards.
• Design of utility systems including water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Preparation of technical reports, master planning studies, and entitlement support documents.
• Development of construction specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Site layout planning including parking, access, and circulation design.
• Integration of sustainable design elements such as LID and green infrastructure.
• Apply Federal, State, City, and County codes and permitting requirements.
• Prepare conceptual design studies and feasibility analyses.
• Collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
