Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer – Civil/Hydrology and Hydraulics with 6+ years of water resources experience focused on dam safety and hydroelectric facilities.

You will design civil hydraulic structures, run hydrologic models, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver technically precise projects. The role requires a PE, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required; MS preferred for civil/water resources focus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• 6+ years of water resources engineering with emphasis on design, hydrology and hydraulic engineering.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, hydrologists, and scientists to solve project challenges; perform design calculations and analyses.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for dam safety and hydroelectric projects.
• Prepare civil design for hydraulic structures and develop engineering plan sets with the Design Technology group.
• Model water systems using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-ResSim, FLOW3D or similar tools.
• Manage multi-disciplinary projects across locations, maintain client expectations, and oversee scope, schedule, and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in professional development.

Project Engineer – Civil/Hydrology and Hydraulics

McMillen, Inc. is looking for a Project Engineer – Civil/Hydrology and Hydraulics 6+ years focused on water resources, dam safety, and hydroelectric-related engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
• Work in conjunction with engineers, geologists, hydrologists, and scientists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations and technical analyses as required.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in support of dam safety and hydroelectric projects.
• Prepare civil design for hydraulic structures; work with Design Technology group to develop engineering plan sets.
• Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-ResSim, FLOW3D or similar industry-standard software.
• Multi-task across various disciplines and locations in support of dam, fisheries and hydroelectric-specific project work.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of subject-matter experts and project contributors in a collaborative team environment.
• Prepare technical deliverables including civil and hydrologic data reports and construction specifications.
• Manage projects tasks by maintaining client expectations and overseeing scope, schedule, and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineers in a respectful, collaborative manner that promotes professional growth and positive team culture.
• Participate in professional development and continuing education activities

Qualifications:

• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required (MS with a civil or water resources focus preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• 6+ years of experience in water resources engineering with emphasis on design, hydrology and hydraulic engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to dams, reservoirs, spillways, and hydroelectric facilities.
• Demonstrated experience with civil design of hydraulic structures, such as diversions, spillways, fish screens, penstocks, and energy dissipation basins.
• Strong understanding of engineering practices related to dams, spillways, reservoirs, and hydro infrastructure.
• Ability to read, interpret, and communicate contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and design documentation for regulatory and client review.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information in written and verbal English.
• Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation Package:

• Pay Range:$124,000 – $184,000 (DOE)
