Job summary

Rhoads Industries, based at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, seeks a Project Engineer/CAD Designer to plan, execute and deliver engineering projects. You will develop detailed CAD drawings and models and coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to optimize fabrication processes for successful project outcomes.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering and 3+ years in related roles, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks and MS Office, plus familiarity with Primavera P6,

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field required.
  • 3+ years of project engineering and/or CAD design experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and deliver engineering projects.
  • Develop detailed CAD drawings and 3D models.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers and contractors.
  • Optimize fabrication processes to drive project success.

We are currently looking for a Project Engineer/CAD Designer to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing team. The Project Engineer / CAD Designer will be responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. This dual-role position combines technical design and project execution, including developing detailed CAD drawings and models, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and optimizing fabrication processes to achieve project success.

Your Background
  • B.S. in Engineering, Construction Technology, other related discipline, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required.
  • US Citizenship required
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering and/or CAD design related roles. Experience level may vary depending on business needs.
  • Experience with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Experience with engineering principles, design standards, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment, and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities at once.
  • Ability to work additional hours as necessary to meet business plan objectives.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Dynamics is a plus.
  • Mature Customer Service and Client Communications skills.
The Work Environment at Rhoads
  • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile.
  • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. stand/walk for long periods and climb a ladder.
