Job summary

EZARC seeks a Project Engineer to manage construction projects, ensuring safe, smooth, and effective execution. You will liaison between management, clients, and subcontractors, handling RFIs, submittals, approvals, and shop drawing releases on site.

The role requires coordinating meetings, reviewing structural drawings, tracking deliveries, and ensuring documentation is complete. Strong communication and reading drawings are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a technical field preferred, or three years of experience in the steel fabrication industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings

Responsibilities

  • Attend job specific meetings
  • Gather/Document information obtained and report to the Project Manager if PM is not in attendance
  • Take meeting minutes for meetings hosted by EZARC
  • Review Structural and Architectural drawings
  • Ensure that the most current drawings are being used in the field
  • Review Shop and Erection drawings
  • Ensure that the shop drawings and erection drawings match the Structural IFC set / current set of documents
  • Deliveries: Place material orders as needed or track deliveries arriving to site
  • Ensure field team (Superintendent, Field Engineer, General Foreman) know what is coming and when
  • If Field Engineer reports any issues with material deliveries, work with shipping party to correct
  • Inspections: Ensure documentation is complete and filed
  • Submit inspection reports to General Contractor, if required
  • Prepare, Review, Submit, and Track RFIs
  • RFI's are intended to notify the contractor that we have an issue in the field, or with the project documents/design and require a solution from an Engineer to overcome the problem
  • Consider proposing a solution to the Engineer, especially if constructability may be a concern
  • Prepare, Review, Submit, and Track Submittals
  • At the start of a project, identify all submittals required on a project
  • Obtain submittals from vendors and subcontractors
  • Review submittals for accuracy, completeness, and constructability
  • Track submittals review time by GC/EOR
  • Once submittals are returned, distribute internally and to appropriate parties
  • Track any necessary revisions and ensure revised submittals follow the same process
  • Prepare, Log and Track NCRs, with FE assistance
  • Prepare Redlines and submit the documents to Project Admin and BIM personnel
  • Use computer programs such as Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam, Vista, Microsoft Office Products, Tekla, etc.
  • Be a team player and support the project team; we wear many hats and do whatever is needed to ensure the project success!

Job Overview

Project Engineers manage construction projects to make sure they run smoothly, safely, and effectively. They have a wide range of job responsibilities. Project Engineers manage the flow of technical information between management team, customers, and subcontractors. They manage rfi, submittals, approvals, and shop drawing releases. Project Engineers identify and communicate possible delays and problems to the project management team.

    • Consider proposing a solution to the Engineer, especially if constructability may be a concern. Keep in mind, we are not licensed engineers - it is up to the Engineer to decide if the solution is acceptable. Refer to RFI checklist and obtain PM review before submission.
