Job summary

JE Dunn Construction Group is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to support field execution and construction processes on active projects. You will participate in general construction management, QA/QC, and self-perform activities to gain a comprehensive understanding of building delivery.

You will collaborate with foremen, journeymen, superintendents, and subcontractors, while applying Lean practices and progressing through the project team path from Project Engineer 1 to Project Engineer

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Understanding of organizational structure and available resources.
  • Familiarity with Lean process and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of construction technology and fundamentals of construction management.
  • Understanding of self-perform work and labor productivity.
  • Ability to assess and optimize project productivity.
  • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general construction management and field execution tasks.
  • Support punch lists, safety reviews, and QA/QC planning.
  • Engage in estimating and change management processes including quantity take-off.
  • On-site collaboration with project team to monitor crew size, self-perform hours, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare and disseminate project documentation and reports (daily/weekly progress, manpower, schedules, etc.).
  • Track shop drawings, procurement logs, and deliveries per project schedule.

Role Summary – The Project Engineer 1 will complete and support construction and field execution responsibilities for projects using construction fundamentals and company best practice standards. In this role you will implement various facets of the construction process including general construction management, punch lists, and executing self-perform work to gain a full understanding of the building process and JE Dunn’s project execution. Key Responsibilities

  • Participates with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
  • Learns and participates in the estimating and change management process and tools, including quantity take-off and review of subcontractor proposals.
  • Works on site with the project team to support various tasks such as monitoring crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantity, and equipment.
  • Engages in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews, and preparation of the necessary documentation.
  • Posts drawings and specifications with the most current information.
  • Organizes and participates in various project meetings and prepares/disseminates required documentation as appropriate.
  • Prepares a variety of reports including daily reports, weekly progress reports, unit reporting, percentage complete, daily manpower, production schedules, and equipment tracking to support the project.
  • Performs periodic job site observations with project leadership.
  • Creates procurement logs based on the project schedule and specification requirements, tracks shop drawings, and follows up with deliveries as directed by the project team.
  • Provides progress updates and reports to the project team to support scheduling.
  • Supports the closeout of projects, including punch lists, operations and maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Utilizes company best practice standards and fundamentals for building and construction techniques.
  • Builds relationships and develops communication and interpersonal skills with tradespeople and project team members such as foremen, journeymen, superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Develops an understanding of the various functions and support roles across the company and their contributions to project success.
  • Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork in a project setting.
  • Learns and incorporates Lean practices into regular activities.
  • Identifies, develops, and integrates self-perform opportunities into the project. Required Qualifications
