Job summary

Linde is seeking a Project Engineer in The Woodlands, TX, who will coordinate engineering activities and act as deputy to the Project Manager. The ideal candidate has at least five years of engineering experience and a BS in engineering, preferably in mechanical or chemical disciplines.

What you will enjoy doing
  • You will act as the deputy to the Project Manager and provide back‑up for the Project Manager as required.
  • You will coordinate internal and external engineering activities and interdisciplinary interfaces in close coordination with discipline team leaders.
  • You ensure technical requirements defined in the scope of work are properly incorporated in engineering deliverables.
  • You manage and facilitate communication across engineering functions to ensure project objectives are met and drive issues to successful conclusion.
  • You coordinate and lead Design Reviews with assistance from discipline team leads.
  • You compile technical documents and information in support of the Job Change Notice process.
  • You coordinate technical claims and issues.
  • You provide liaison services between engineering and construction, including review of scope documents, attend bid conferences or bid walks for major subcontracts, and support bid review and scope compliance analysis of subcontractor proposals.
  • You participate in project validation meetings at proposal handover from Linde Engineering when appropriate and support construction and fabrication by providing resolutions of RFIs.
  • You review and provide input on P&IDs and maintain the equipment list and Quantity Tracking Matrix (QTM).
  • You coordinate the assembly of all Construction Bid Package documents in collaboration with construction engineering for project construction subcontracts, including initial preparation to final (conformed) contract package.
  • You perform shop checkouts before shipment.
  • You assist the Commissioning Manager or Project Manager with field commissioning and start‑up.
What Makes You Great
  • BS in engineering, BSME or BSChE preferred.
  • At least five years of engineering experience, with a minimum of one year in a process‑oriented E/C company or an operating company with project engineering duties.
  • Broad understanding of major design engineering disciplines: piping, equipment, process, civil/structural, instrumentation, and electrical.
  • Basic understanding of continuous‑flow chemical/physical processes typical of hydrocarbon processing, hydrogen production, and/or air separation.
  • Effective leadership, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other company‑specific software applications.
  • Project Management Professional accreditation preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (~40%). Extended travel may be required during certain project phases (e.g., HAZOP review, commissioning/start‑up).
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to sit, occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently climb to heights of up to 200 feet.
