Job summary

Morgan Corp. is seeking a Project Engineer to support heavy civil construction projects in the Savannah, GA area. You will assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, coordination, and execution, handling project controls, procurement, schedules, and field coordination.

The role requires reading drawings, preparing RFIs and change orders, tracking budgets and schedules, and ensuring safety and quality standards on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar heavy civil construction role.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, procurement, project documentation, and construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily administration, planning and execution with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Prepare drawings, RFIs, submittals, change order estimates, and project logs.
  • Interpret construction drawings; perform takeoffs; resolve design conflicts.
  • Track budgets, job costs, quantities, production, and schedule data.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with codes, drawings, specs and contract requirements.
  • Prepare project correspondence and participate in project meetings; document decisions and follow-up.
  • Assemble and maintain project plans, records, logs, inspection and testing documentation, and closeout materials.
  • Support safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific procedures.

Project Engineer

Description

Supports Project Managers and Superintendents in the planning, coordination, and execution of Morgan Corp.’s heavy civil construction projects. Manage key project controls, including contract documentation, cost and quality tracking, procurement, schedule support, field coordination, and closeout activities, to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents on the daily administration, planning, and execution of construction projects.
  • Prepare drawings, sketches, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, change order estimates, and related project logs and documentation.
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications, preparequantity takeoffs, and research and recommend resolutions to design conflicts, discrepancies, and errors.
  • Identify work that differs from contract documents or the approved scope and coordinate appropriate documentation and follow-up action.
  • Support procurement by preparing quantity takeoffs and pricing for purchase orders, subcontracts, materials, equipment, and potential scope changes.
  • Track project budgets, job costs, quantities, production, and schedule information; assist with forecasting and project status reporting.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.
  • Prepare project correspondence and status reports, participate in project meetings, and document decisions, action items, and follow-up responsibilities.
  • Assemble, organize, and maintain accurate project plans, records, logs, inspection and testing documentation, and closeout materials.
  • Support company safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental compliance, and project-specific procedures; promptly communicate personnel concerns, complaints, injuries, and other significant project issues.
  • Assist with preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, work sequencing, and construction methods; provide limited technical guidance and work review for Field Engineers when assigned.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain assigned equipment, project documentation, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, trainings, and project-specific orientations.
  • Travel to project sites and work extended hours, overtime,
    weekends, and/or night shifts as project schedules require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant construction experience may be considered.
  • Two to five years of experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or in a comparable heavy civil construction role preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, procurement, project documentation, and construction administration.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Position must follow Morgan Corp.'s Fit for Duty Physical Program.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work for extended periods at project sites located predominantly throughout the southeastern United States.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or night shifts as project schedules require.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions common to heavy civil construction.
  • Strong commitment to Morgan Corp.'s safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve problems involving several variables with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
