Job summary

Myers & Sons Construction is seeking a Project Engineer with a focus on MEP for a heavy civil environment in Sacramento. You will work on the Caldecott Tunnel Life Fire Safety Upgrades CMGC Project, coordinating with the project team, managing cost reports and schedules, and ensuring accurate documentation and subcontract control.

The role requires on-site leadership, familiarity with Vista, and experience in self-performed concrete, mechanical, civil and underground construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • +1 years or more of experience in Treatment Plants, Heavy Civil or Highway projects in California.
  • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and self-perform work.
  • Excellent organizational, team management, problem solving, motivational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work On Site to help solve problems that occur during construction.
  • Working within Vista to manage documents.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the contract with the Owner.
  • Monitor and report project progress.
  • Field work: construction layout, developing grades, and work plans for self-performed work.
  • Review and approve project invoices.
  • Document control such as submittals, RFI's and Change Orders.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Project Engineer with a focus on MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) in either a Treatment Plant or Heavy Civil environment with current expirence in the construction/engineering space.

This position located in our Sacramento office and is for the Caldecott Tunnel Life Fire Safety Upgrades CMGC Project. This project rehabilitates the Caldecott Tunnel Bores 1, 2 and 3 to preserve the structural integrity of the tunnel, improve ventilation performance and firefighting operational response, and extend its service life. The project rehabilitation scope includes, removing, and repairing cracks in the concrete, addressing rust and fixing water damage in tunnel walls and ceilings. Construction will also make improvements to the electrical and lighting systems within the tunnel. The fire safety aspect of the project includes installing new jet fans for tunnel ventilation and sprinkler system as fire suppression.

We are looking for a person that can develop a deep understanding of the project documents, including the contract with the owner, subcontracts, cost reports, CPM schedules, specifications, project deliverable documents, correspondence, billings, and related project controls items. This person should be capable of leading a project team on a fast-paced project and be knowledge in self-performed concrete, mechanical, civil and underground construction. This person should also feel comfortable navigating and working within accounting and project documentation software such as Viewpoint's Vista and be detailed oriented. In addition to office task, this person will work closely with the project superintendent to develop and execute work plans as well as track costs.
