Job description

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to develop well‑rounded future talent with construction expertise across multi‑disciplines – ultimately creating professionals with experience in the full scope of construction management. This role assists and supports Field Operations and/or Estimating functions in achieving their respective goals and objectives, contributing to project management, field operations, and estimating.

Focus & Scope

Essential duties and responsibilities are indicated below and include technical and administrative support, collaboration across departments, promotion of company values, and support of safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Actively support estimating and field operation goals by completing technical and administrative projects on time, providing ongoing support, and proactively resolving challenges and issues.
  • Collaborate across departments to promote consistent field operations and estimating practices and administrative procedures.
  • Promote and protect Teichert Construction values, including diversity, teamwork, a fair work environment, and respect of others, while maintaining a team spirit within the business unit.
  • Promote and protect the community perception of Teichert.
Technical / Specialty Area
  • Assist in achieving a zero‑injury culture through support of Teichert’s Injury Prevention and Safety program and active participation in safety meetings and training.
  • Complete assignments and tasks on time, accurately, and in line with customer expectations; collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators to resolve issues and monitor workforce productivity.
  • Provide support in coordinating resources for assigned projects, including identifying labor, equipment, and material accuracy, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, ordering and scheduling materials, and building GPS models.
  • Assist Estimators in performing material takeoffs, validating work from Take‑Off Techs, resolving miscalculations, gathering data for bid proposals, and developing guidelines and precedents for future estimates.
  • Accurately prepare estimates, review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope, and evaluate historical data for unit and man‑hour projections.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers and communicate company policies and procedures.
  • Complete internal administrative responsibilities and documentation, including project logs, files, reports, estimates, submittals, RFIs, contracts, permits, price quotes, purchase orders, work orders, invoices, and quantity take‑off materials.
  • Take ownership of career development, working closely with engineering services, field operations, and estimating to progress toward higher roles.

Key Relationships

Reports to: Area Manager, General Superintendent, Estimating Manager, or Engineering Services Manager.

Direct Reports: None.

External Clients: Material suppliers, equipment suppliers, subcontractors, owners, developers, consultants, private customers, public agencies, and regulatory agencies.

Internal Clients: Area Manager, General Superintendent, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Estimators, Estimating Manager, Administrative Manager, Accounting Office Assistant, Cost Analysts, and Dispatch.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
Experience & Industry Expertise
  • Typically a Project Engineer I (0–2 years) or Project Engineer II (2+ years).
Specific Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain required company auto insurance limits.
  • Current on all company required safety training.
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Knowledge of drafting and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to use computer‑aided systems and equipment to calculate material quantity requirements.
  • Knowledge of project management software and/or estimating software.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, techniques, and standards applicable to the discipline.
  • Knowledge of the company’s Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Occasional overnight travel.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Physical: Sitting for long periods on a computer; driving to and from job sites; walking on uneven ground; climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling in confined spaces; lifting up to 50 lbs.; close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision; long hours during peak seasons.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment; exposure to job‑site conditions such as loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather; may work various shifts, including early mornings, dusk, or evenings.
Salary Range

Base salary: $74,167 – $124,833 (subject to variation based on role, level, location, education, training, or experience).
