Job summary

WestLAND Group is seeking a Project Engineer to work on a wide array of projects from commercial/industrial sites to master-planned developments. The role involves design oversight, coordination with agencies, and client communication.

The candidate should have 5+ years of civil engineering design experience, a BS in Civil Engineering, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydraulics software. EIT is preferred. This is an on-site role in California.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT preferred.
• 5+ years of civil design experience in land development.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydraulics software.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager with overall project plan and designs.
• Provide technical oversight to staff engineers and manage schedules/budgets.
• Perform complex civil design calculations and prepare sketches.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members including public agencies.
• Attend project/site meetings with clients, architects, agencies and consultants.
• Review drawings from vendors/clients/engineers; propose changes.
• Research design options and coordinate with internal design team.
• Research code issues with city/state/county officials and obtain permits.

** The Position:** The Project Engineer will be exposed to a wide variety of projects, from small commercial retail and industrial sites and residential subdivisions, to master-planned business/ industrial parks and communities for large developers.

** Key Responsibilities:**

• Assisting the Project Manager with the overall plan production of a project, including individual designs (private and public improvements),
• Providing technical oversight to staff engineers, ensuring that project schedules and budgets are met,
• Performing complex civil design calculations, preparing sketches and technical studies as required
• Coordinating project assignments with internal and external project team members including public agencies,
• Attending Project and Site Meetings with clients, architects, public agencies, and other consultants as needed,
• Reviewing drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers and architects, recommending necessary changes and coordinating with internal documents,
• Researching design options, documenting findings and coordinating with internal design team,
• Researching code issues and working with city, state and county officials including plan processing, plan check follow-up and coordination, and permitting.

** Minimum Qualifications:**

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field,
• Licensed as an Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred,
• 5+ years civil engineering design experience, specializing in Land Development,
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Hydrology & Hydraulic Software,
• Excellent technical and communication skills,
• Ability to work on several concurrent projects,
• Ability to commit to occasional unforeseen and demanding deliverable schedules.
