Job summary

New Jersey Transit Corporation in Newark is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, coordinating with clients, architects, and contractors to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements. You will develop project plans, allocate resources, monitor progress, and resolve issues throughout the lifecycle.

A Baccalaureate Degree in engineering is required, along with two years of applied engineering experience and proficiency in CAD, AutoCAD, and

• Two years of applied engineering experience.
• Proficiency in CAD and AutoCAD design drawings using MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and coordinate moderately complex construction, rehabilitation, and/or alteration of rail infrastructure systems.
• Coordinate activities of project staff and contractors in the design, development and implementation of moderately complex engineering projects.
• Develop designs, proposals, schedules and cost estimates for assigned projects.
• Evaluate progress and results of engineering activity, and recommend changes in procedures of assigned projects.
• Maintain liaison with individuals and units (internally and externally) to facilitate the completion of assigned projects.
• Prepare CAD drawings using MicroStation.

A Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects from conception to completion. They collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients, architects, and contractors, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Project Engineers also develop project plans, coordinate resources, monitor progress, and address any issues that may arise during the project lifecycle. Strong technical and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Description

• Plans, designs and coordinates moderately complex construction, rehabilitation, and/or alteration
• of structures, facilities, equipment and/or other rail infrastructure systems.
• Coordinates the activities of assigned project staff and/or contractors in the design, development
• and implementation of moderately complex engineering projects.
• Recommends standards and criteria for design and construction of moderately complex
• engineering projects. Develops designs, proposals, schedules and cost estimates for assigned
• projects.
• Evaluates progress and results of engineering activity, and recommends changes in procedures
• of assigned projects.
• Maintains limited liaison with individuals and units (internally and externally) to facilitate the completion of assigned projects.
• Estimates human and other resources needs, and schedules work to meet completion dates and
• technical specifications.
• Must be able to prepare CAD and AutoCAD design drawings using MicroStation.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in appropriate engineering discipline

Knowledge and Skills

• Two (2) years of applied engineering experience.
• Proficiency in the preparation of CAD and AutoCAD design drawings required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Professional Engineer License in the State of New Jersey desired.
