Job description

  • Radio systems

The successful candidate, as a member of a high-functioning team, will support closure planning, field operations, environmental compliance, reclamation implementation, water management, contractor oversight, and stakeholder engagement activities associated with an advanced mine closure project.

Success in this role depends as much on judgment, ownership, and teamwork as technical expertise. We seek an individual who understands the overall objectives of mine closure, recognizes changing priorities driven by weather, water management, permitting, or field conditions, and proactively identifies and acts on what needs to be done.

The successful candidate thrives in a collaborative environment where team members depend on one another and where initiative, adaptability, and practical problem-solving are essential.

This role combines technical engineering responsibilities with project coordination, field leadership, regulatory interaction, and operational problem-solving.

The successful candidate will become a key operational resource for the project and develop a comprehensive understanding of site infrastructure, environmental systems, closure strategies, and regulatory commitments.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Safety
  • Serve as a safety leader for all personnel working on site through effective communication and leading by example.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, consultants, and visitors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee safe and efficient field activities involving multiple contractors and technical specialists.
Project Planning & Operations
  • Support practical planning, budgeting, scheduling, and realistic execution of closure and reclamation activities.
  • Coordinate daily field operations as required and provide technical oversight of closure-related projects and systems.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules and work plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce project risk.
  • Perform equipment evaluations and trade-off studies, including rental-versus-purchase analyses.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Develop familiarity with all major site systems and infrastructure, including:
  • Water management facilities
  • Remote monitoring systems
  • Equipment control systems
  • Wireless communications networks
  • Radio systems
  • Meteorological monitoring stations
  • Solar-powered infrastructure
  • Water evaporation and discharge systems
  • Provide technical input for closure design concepts associated with:
  • Open pit
  • Waste rock facilities
  • Process plant and mill areas
  • Evaporation ponds
  • Pipelines and water management infrastructure
  • Support construction management activities and coordinate with engineering and environmental consulting firms.
Environmental & Regulatory Support
  • Develop a working understanding of applicable Federal, State, and local permits and regulatory requirements within the first six months of employment.
  • Support the Compliance Manager in maintaining permit compliance and meeting stakeholder commitments.
  • Assist with management of water rights, water allocations, and related regulatory obligations.
  • Provide technical input to permitting processes and regulatory submittals.
  • Participate in presentations and technical discussions with Federal and State regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as a proxy for regulatory and stakeholder interactions when other project leadership is unavailable.
  • Ensure protection of Waters of the State and create long-term plans to manage mine water commensurate with this requirement.
Data Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Support ongoing improvement of site reporting systems and operational databases and AI.
  • Review field and monitoring data to support decision-making and project optimization.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and evaluate contractor and consultant submissions.
Required
Desired Qualifications

  • Approximately 5–15+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong project coordination and technical communication skills.
  • Experience working in and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to perform well in a team setting and to be self-directed based on overall team goals.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work in a mining environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with broad objectives rather than waiting for detailed direction.
  • Proven record of anticipating issues, prioritizing competing demands, and taking appropriate action.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic field environment where priorities change due to weather, operational needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated humility, accountability, and willingness to assist teammates beyond formal job responsibilities.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills with the ability to understand interactions among water management, geochemistry, reclamation, permitting, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders.
Preferred
  • Experience with mine closure, reclamation, or environmental management projects.
  • Knowledge of Nevada mining regulations, permitting processes, and interfacing with Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) staff.
