Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC in Naples, FL is seeking a Project Engineer for a busy FDOT roadway project. This hands-on role involves mentorship, a strong project backlog, and clear paths to Senior PE.

You will manage RFIs/submittals, assist the field team with material tracking and scheduling, track quantities and costs, review plans for constructability, and maintain FDOT-compliant documentation in a growing firm with full benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of project or field engineering in heavy-civil / heavy-highway construction.
• Background in heavy-civil / FDOT roadway or equivalent DOT experience.
• Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals "keep information moving between designers, the owner, and subcontractors."
• Support the Superintendent in the field on material tracking, subcontractor scheduling, and daily sequencing.
• Help track quantities, pay estimates, and project costs.
• Review plans and specs to catch conflicts and constructability issues early.
• Keep documentation, daily reports, and records aligned to FDOT standards.
• Support scheduling, look-ahead planning, and change-order documentation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years of project or field engineering in heavy-civil / heavy-highway construction.
• A heavy-civil / FDOT roadway background (or comparable DOT roadway experience).
• Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent field experience.
• The ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.

NICE TO HAVE

• Direct FDOT project experience.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or Microsoft Project.
• EIT certification or measurable progress toward a PE license.
