This position is responsible for coordinating project requirements, developing manufacturable designs, preparing complete engineering and production documentation, and providing technical support throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Customer and Project Management

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned customers and projects.
• Gather and clarify customer requirements, including function, performance, budget, schedule, and design intent.
• Manage assigned projects from initial concept through design approval, quoting, production release, and manufacturing support.

Mechanical Design and Engineering

• Create accurate 3D CAD models for components, subassemblies, and complete assemblies.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles throughout the project.
• Incorporate customer and internal feedback while maintaining proper revision control.

Manufacturing Documentation

• Create complete 2D drawings for manufactured parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
• Develop accurate, indented bills of materials covering manufactured parts, purchased components, hardware, raw materials, and outsourced processes.
• Prepare complete production-release packages that allow parts and assemblies to be produced with minimal additional clarification.

Estimating, Purchasing, and Production Support

• Support make-versus-buy decisions and identify opportunities to reduce cost or lead time.
• Conduct clear project handoffs with production management and answer technical questions from shop personnel.
• Support prototypes, fixtures, first-article inspections, testing, engineering changes, and design revisions.

Budget and Ownership

• Complete assigned work within established project budgets and schedules.
• Accurately track engineering time and design-related costs against project expectations.
• Communicate anticipated overruns, delays, and unresolved questions early.

Essential Skills

• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• 4+ years of mechanical design experience
• SolidWorks (including parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and bill of materials)
• Understanding of CNC machining & sheet metal fabrication
• Design for Manufacturability

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
