Job summary

MBA Energy & Industrial is seeking a Project Engineer to support coordination, planning, and execution of industrial building construction projects in the Magnolia, TX area. This role provides hands-on experience across all project phases and serves as a bridge between project management and field operations.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, helping with scheduling, procurement, submittals, and cost tracking, with clear opportunities for advancement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar CM tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing industrial building projects.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and subcontractor services; manage RFQs and POs.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Support cost tracking, change orders, and contract administration.
  • Site visits to monitor progress, safety, and adherence to design intent.
  • Maintain organized meeting notes and project communications.

Job description

The Project Engineer supports MBA Energy & Industrial in the coordination, planning, and execution of industrial building construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience across all project phases — from preconstruction and procurement to scheduling, field coordination, and closeout. The position serves as a critical bridge between project management and field operations, with a clear path toward future leadership opportunities within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, scheduling, and executing industrial building projects.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor services; manage RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Review, process, and track submittals, schedules, RFIs, and other project documentation.
  • Negotiate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure quality, scope, and value alignment.
  • Conduct job site visits to monitor construction progress, safety compliance, and adherence to design intent.
  • Review drawings and coordinate with design teams to resolve conflicts and clarify project details.
  • Document meeting notes, distribute minutes, and maintain organized communication logs.
  • Assist with contract administration, change order documentation, and cost tracking.
  • Support field operations and logistics, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.
  • Promote company safety standards, quality expectations, and project goals across all activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn the full lifecycle of industrial building construction.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of relevant construction experience (industrial, commercial, or design-build).
  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management tools.
  • Knowledge of PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Building) systems and industrial building methods.
  • Experience supporting project scheduling and cost control activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an office setting with regular travel to job sites (approximately 40% travel). Field visits involve exposure to active construction environments including outdoor conditions and uneven terrain. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as required by project demands.

Compensation and Benefits

MBA Energy & Industrial offers competitive compensation starting at $70,000 annually with performance-based bonuses.
