Boston Government Services, LLC (BGS) seeks a Project Engineer to support projects at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. The role focuses on planning, design, and coordination across infrastructure and production modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a technical degree with 10+ years of experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain DOE Q clearance. Onsite schedule is 4/10 or similar.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in a technical discipline with 10+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years.
• U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain security clearance.
• Successful drug screening and ability to obtain/maintain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide project engineering support to plan, design and implement machine tools and infrastructure upgrades.
• Provide technical integration, leadership, and direction to multi-disciplinary engineering teams on high-profile plant initiatives.
• Apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities.
• Plan and direct engineering activities on projects with defined scopes.
• Establish detailed design scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls.
• Review progress against schedules and take corrective actions when required.

Education

Where You’ll Work

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state‑of‑the‑art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private‑sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About The Role

The Project Engineer will provide support and coordination for various projects across one but not limited to; Commercial, Infrastructure, Production Modernization, and/or Production Stockpile projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide Project Engineering support necessary to complete planning, design and implementation of new machine tools and/or infrastructure upgrades.


• Provide technical integration, leadership, guidance, and direction to other multi-disciplined engineering teams as requested for high profile plant initiatives.


• Will appropriately apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities


• Plan and direct the engineering activities on projects.


• Establish detailed project design scope, budgets, and schedules.


• Professionally coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls personnel.


• Review project engineering progress against approved schedules and take corrective action when required.

Requirements

• BA/BS Degree from an ABET accredited school in a technical discipline, plus 10 years or more of direct experience required, or an MA or MS with 10 plus years of experience.


• Must be a U.S. citizen.


• Successful drug screening.


• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.


• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Location/Work Arrangement:

• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.


• Typical work schedule will be Mon.-Thur. 10-hour days (4/10 schedule).
