Job summary

Eastman in Kingsport, TN seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead capital projects across EPCOM, from concept through start-up. You will manage schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations, ensuring safety and compliance while driving value for the business.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering, 4+ years in EPC/Capital projects, and strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills. Travel up to 25% is expected to support project execution in a global industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET preferred).
• 4+ years in EPC/Capital projects or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of front-end loading (FEL) in capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of capital projects, ensuring schedules and budgets are met and customer requirements are addressed.
• Coordinate resource management across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations and Maintenance (EPCOM).
• Collaborate with Project Controls to monitor progress, report deviations and forecast future work.
• Engage stakeholders to develop and implement project execution strategies and ensure compliance with contractor agreements.
• Develop annual capital plans, manage expenditures and promote continuous improvement and best-value practices.
• Regularly assess and mitigate project risk to meet objectives and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Manage Capital Projects: Oversee all phases of capital projects and studies, ensuring they meet schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
• Resource Coordination: Secure and manage resources for project implementation, from concept to start-up, direct the development of necessary engineering documents, and ensure involvement of appropriate personnel from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM).
• Project Monitoring and Reporting: Collaborate with Project Controls to track progress, report deviations, and communicate future work projections.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with various organizations to develop and implement project execution strategies and ensure compliance with contractor agreements.
• Strategic Planning and Evaluation: Develop annual capital plans, manage expenditures, and evaluate project performance, promoting best-value practices and continuous improvement.
• Risk Management: Regularly evaluates & mitigates issues that create project risk to meeting project objectives. Proactively anticipates those issues and develops mitigation plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. Engineering degree required.
• 4 years’ experience in various aspects of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) process or appropriate comparable experience.
• Solid understanding of the front-end-loading (FEL) capital process, from project definition through plant start-up.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and team leadership skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and to implementing safe capital facilities.
• Must be able to travel as needed based on project needs. Travel is estimated at up to 25%.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• 5+ years of Project Management experience on capital projects in the $20M range
• PMP Certification
• 5+ years of leadership experience (indirect or direct) in manufacturing
• 5+ years of experience in the Chemical, Petroleum or Pharmaceutical industry.
