Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Project Engineer: As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for working with the Center of Excellence team to support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with the execution of Arcwood’s Full Potential Plan (FPP). This role serves as a critical link between Operations, Engineering, Compliance and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Ideal candidates will bring a strong technical background, exceptional project management abilities and effective communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and customers.

Location: This position is located in our Indianapolis, IN corporate office with travel expected to our plant sites in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas.

Essential Functions & Requirements
  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices.
  • Assists in the development of best practices in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving all types of processes or production issues.
  • Applies identified and developed best practices to other facilities or service centers, with goals towards standardization, cost savings, uptime improvement and a preventative maintenance approach.
  • Provides project management support on multiple projects, including RCRA compliance projects & continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees contractor groups to ensure that work is done safely, within project scope and budget, and accomplishes project objectives.
  • Integrates capital project work into operations scheduling to efficiently complete project work with minimal impact to facility operations.
  • Prepares reports documenting project activities to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with the automation of current processes to control costs, drive consistency and meet demand.
  • Participates in technical problem‑solving for customers and suppliers as circumstances require.
  • Develops project scopes, schedules, budgets, work plans and resource requirements.
  • Partners with the Purchasing function to ensure the global supply chain accommodates project schedules and budgets.
  • Incorporates data analysis and problem‑solving through Lean manufacturing methodologies, DMAIC, Value Stream Maps, 5‑Why, Ishikawa diagrams, FMEAs and/or Kaizen to investigate issues and performance drivers to establish robust action plans.
  • Participates in site assessments, field investigations, remediation activities, emergency response and related operations to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.
  • Provides engineering expertise in the areas of prints, product specifications, equipment maintenance, automation, operational excellence and purchases throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates with members of the management team and keeps them informed of project status and performance versus budget and schedule.
  • Ensures projects are managed across multiple locations within the organization.
  • Maintains the ability to travel as required, up to 30% of the time.
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required); mechanical specialization (preferred).
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, capital project management, production and maintenance (required).
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing reliability, Lean/Six Sigma, productivity or continuous improvement principles (preferred).
