Actalent is seeking a Project Engineer located in Hutchins, TX, to manage casting-focused projects from design through production approval. You will coordinate tooling design, process development, and manufacturing readiness while interfacing with customers and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in project/manufacturing engineering in casting environments and a strong understanding of tooling, gauging, and GD&T concepts. This is a contract-to-hire role with onsite work.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Engineer with a strong experience in investment casting, metal casting, or foundry manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for managing projects from initial design through production approval, serving as the primary point of contact between customers, engineering, and manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will understand casting processes, tooling development, manufacturing methods, quality requirements, and production challenges associated with cast components. Experience working in investment casting operations, foundries, or metal casting facilities is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from concept and design through production approval.
• Lead project activities involving investment castings, metal castings, tooling, fixtures, and production processes.
• Coordinate tooling design, gauging, process development, routings, schedules, dimensional approvals, and manufacturing readiness.
• Work directly with customers regarding project status, technical requirements, quality concerns, and production timelines.
• Support projects in the aerospace, defense, medical, and automotive industries.
• Develop and review customer quality documentation and resolve technical gaps or manufacturing concerns.
• Identify opportunities to improve casting processes, manufacturing methods, quality, efficiency, and cost.
• Apply knowledge of foundry operations, investment casting processes, mold design, tool design, and metal casting manufacturing to support successful product launches.
• Determine manufacturing process steps, tooling requirements, materials, and production methods to support efficient and profitable manufacturing.
• Participate in operational reviews and work closely with plant leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute technical expertise during production issues and line-down situations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Project Management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working in investment casting, metal casting, foundry operations, or related manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, gauging, dimensional approvals, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to manage projects through all phases of development and production.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with titanium investment castings.
• Aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with ISO, AS, IATF, or other quality management systems.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Experience with NX (Unigraphics), CAD, or other 3D modeling software.
• Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience. li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience managing projects involving investment cast products, understands how cast components move from design and tooling through production, and is comfortable working directly with customers and manufacturing teams. Candidates coming from foundries, investment casting facilities, metal casting operations, aerospace casting suppliers, or precision casting manufacturers will be particularly attractive for this role.

Work Environment

• Office-based role with regular interaction with manufacturing operations.
• Monday-Friday, 40-hour workweek.
• Collaborative environment working closely with engineering, quality, production, and customers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hutchins, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $63.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
