Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy in Houston, TX is seeking a Project Engineer (P2) to lead technical design, permitting, scheduling, and budgeting for wind, solar, and storage projects. • Direct the activities of a multi-discipline engineering team and consultants to meet project requirements.
• Finalize engineering exhibits for EPC contracts and support owner equipment agreements as needed.
• Review EPC deliverables and respond to RFIs and submittals within milestones.
• Ensure EPCs are provided with technical information for owner-supplied equipment.

This position is responsible for planning and managing all technical aspects and decisions associated with design, technical adequacy, permitting, schedule, budgets, and construction of assigned wind, solar, and/or energy storage projects.Key Responsibilities:Act as the primary engineering interface between Development, Interconnection, Permitting, Real Estate, Operations, Construction, Quality, Procurement, Finance, and Project Management from the 30% engineering designs until final receipt of as-builts after handoff to OperationsDirect the activities of a multi-discipline engineering team and consultants to ensure project requirements are achieved for assigned projectsFinalize engineering exhibits for EPC contracts and support owner supply equipment agreements as neededSupport EPC contracting efforts through review of the scope of work and responding to bid clarifications and exclusionsManage the receipt and review of engineering deliverables from EPC contractors and owner supplied equipment providers within scheduled delivery milestonesReview project design submittals against design criteria, constraints, energy requirements, and other contract requirementsManage timely responses to RFIs and equipment submittalsEnsure EPC contractors are provided with technical information from owner supplied equipmentSupport site and PM team as needed for site visits, inspections, meetings, and change order reviewCoordinate/manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously within the constraints of available resources and priorities while maintaining project goals and objectivesAnalysis of engineering alternatives to ensure most cost-effective approach is followed while maintaining compliance with technical adequacy and safety standardsEstablish and maintain appropriate communication with cross functional groups to ensure their input is properly factored into project engineering decisionsAnalyze schedule, budgets and resource indicators and make necessary adjustments to meet project constraintsWork harmoniously and effectively with LRE’s cross functional groupsProvide technical support and respond to questions on PPAs, Interconnection Agreements, insurance forms, and from independent engineersEscalate engineering issues to PM that impact schedule and/or budget as well as provide recommended solutionsEnsures all engineering deliverables are received and available for operations after executionRequired Qualifications:4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering3 - 6 years of relevant experience in power generation preferably renewablesAbility to learn quicklyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFamiliarity with building codes and standards including the IBC, ASCE 7, and the NECUnderstanding of building permit processesFamiliarity with construction techniquesStrong project management skillsWell-developed and professional interpersonal skills;
