About the Role

The Project Engineer will utilize his/her technical expertise and project planning skills to deliver new aeroderivative power plant installations and Aftermarket upgrade projects. The Project Engineer will assist the project manager with new unit sales campaigns from the proposal stage until commercial operation. The Project Engineer will provide technical guidance regarding scope, delivery, and commercial contract terms. While not expected to be an expert in all disciplines, the candidate must have sufficient project experience, equipment knowledge, and schedule awareness through the planning, delivery, construction, and commissioning stages to avoid delays and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities
  • Support new equipment bid and proposal phase, ensuring the scope of supply aligns with contract specifications. Identify potential technical and execution risks and recommend mitigation actions. Review budgets to ensure they adequately cover design and scope of supply requirements.
  • Following contract award, communicate project scope, design, and deliverable requirements to internal groups. Coordinate release of bills of material and drawing packages and transmittals of documents to customers. Communicate with internal departments regarding contract change orders. Manage scope and design integration activities to reduce technical and execution risk and improve overall project margin.
  • Summarize technical activities, risks, and current spend-versus-budget.
  • Ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of hardware, information, and services in full compliance with project technical requirements. Assist with generating and transmitting packing lists and manifests.
  • Provide technical leadership to field teams to ensure compliance with technical requirements during construction and commissioning. Provide timely resolution of all field technical issues. Assist field team with material inventory and track site material shortages.
  • At completion of project, ensure swift closeout of project punch list. Provide accurate as-built documentation. Ensure all site QC documentation and test reports are archived during project turnover.
  • Document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Support Aftermarket projects by leading smaller-scope upgrade projects in parallel with new unit projects. The candidate may be required to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Prioritize EH&S considerations in dealings with customers, contractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • B.S. Mechanical/Electrical, Power Plant, or Marine Engineering, or equivalent industry experience as a maritime or gas turbine systems technician or industrial power plant operator/technician
  • 5+ years industry experience preferred
Required Skills
  • Experience in power plant construction/industrial equipment or similar required; general awareness of common, applicable OSHA safety guidelines and experience with PPE
  • A balance among gas turbine power plant technical knowledge, business management, and customer relationship skills required
  • Ability to focus on priorities and manage multiple projects within demanding time constraints; capacity to work across multiple time zones and sometimes outside of normal working hours is essential
  • Customer-focused and able to appreciate Customer and Company perspectives
  • Familiar with reading engineering drawings and schematics
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directing, persistent, and goal-driven with the capacity to problem-solve; able to work well individually and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Project, as well as SAP
  • Foreign language skills (Spanish) not required, but highly valued
