Responsibilities

• Apply project management skills across all project phases: development, justification, design, construction, startup.
• Prepare DSPs and present to leadership.
• Develop scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital/expense projects.
• Develop strategies to meet schedules and mitigate delays.
• Manage multiple projects safely, efficiently, and within budget.
• Provide mechanical support and troubleshooting for Area Teams.
• Assist Area Teams during process unit turnarounds.
• Coordinate with consultants and designers to complete projects cost-effectively.
• Interact daily with project team members to execute objectives.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams for planning/execution.
• Participate in area HAZOP reviews and incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with MOC, PSI, and mechanical integrity documentation.
• Promote safety awareness and correct unsafe practices.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP's Louisiana Refining Division currently has a vacancy for an Area Team Engineer in the Engineering Department. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide project management and mechanical design services for a refinery process operations team and/or capital project team. Projects include new capital projects and modifications needed to properly maintain and optimize existing operating units. Projects typically range in size from $20,000 - $5,000,000. Management of multiple projects concurrently is required. Relocation is available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Applies project management skills across all project phases: development, justification, design, construction, and start-up
• Prepares Decision Support Packages (DSPs) and presents to leadership.
• Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects.
• Develops strategies to meet schedules and mitigate delays.
• Manages multiple projects/programs safely, efficiently, and within budget
• Providing mechanical support and troubleshooting skills for Area Teams.
• Providing mechanical assistance to the Area Teams during process unit Turnarounds.
• Coordinates with engineering consultants and designers to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
• Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support project planning and execution.
• Participating in area HAZOP reviews and incident investigations.
• Ensures compliance with Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), and mechanical integrity documentation.
• Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective action when unsafe practices or conditions are observed.
• Applies safety and environmental standards to designs.
• Applies engineering codes and specifications; ensures designs meet safety, environmental, and permitting standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) years or more of industry experience required.
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering is required.
• Three (3) years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry is preferred.
• Valid driver's license is required.
