Job summary

R. C. Stevens Construction in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Project Engineer with hands-on construction experience to join its team and help deliver projects safely, efficiently, and ethically.

Qualifications

• A four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of construction project management experience in the field.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, estimating, scheduling, and safety.
• Excellent communication, organization, and supervisory skills.
• Willingness to travel
• Valid driver’s license and driving history that meets company standards
• Background checks and Drug‑Free Workplace Program required

Responsibilities

• Support project planning, work-package development, scheduling, and production benchmarks
• Review drawings and help resolve design conflicts or errors
• Track quantities, productivity, project progress, and material deliveries
• Communicate daily productivity targets to field crews
• Assist with purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, scopes of work, and contract development
• Maintain project logs, correspondence, schedules, procurement reports, and compliance records
• Coordinate submittals and approvals with owners and engineers
• Support the project quality assurance and quality control program
• Lead project closeout activities
• Identify, document, and estimate costs for additional or unexpected work
• Maintain accurate change-order records
• Provide engineering input for the daily job log
• Support environmental and permit compliance requirements as needed

** The role**

The Project Engineer will support project delivery, working with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors across quality control, scheduling, permitting, compliance, documentation, and construction methods. You will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with applicable requirements.

• A four‑year degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in industrial and/or commercial construction


• At least two years of construction project management experience in the field


• Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, engineering, estimating, scheduling, and safety


• The ability to identify and implement solutions to complex technical problems


• Excellent communication, organization, and supervisory skills


• Previous knowledge of Procore is encouraged


• Willingness to travel


• A valid state driver's license and a driving history that meets company standards
