Job summary

The Hershey Company in Edgerton, KS is seeking a Project Engineer to lead scoped engineering projects and program management. You will work with engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations, while applying Hershey standards.

The successful candidate has 3+ years in engineering/project management and a Bachelor's in Engineering or related field. Travel across Kansas sites may be required; base could be Lawrence or Edgerton.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, program management, manufacturing, packaging, or related technical area.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong project coordination, documentation, communication, problem solving, and cross functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned engineering project or program management tasks using established procedures and Hershey standards.
  • Evaluate options and use system knowledge to recommend practical solutions to engineering or delivery issues.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to align requirements and testing activities.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and issues; raise concerns, support corrective actions, and track resolution.
  • Support capital project activities such as feasibility, cost estimates, equipment selection, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and training coordination.
  • Maintain project records, engineering documentation, and templates while supporting safety, quality, governance, traceability, and process improvement.

How will you fit in the big picture?

At our Edgerton, KS location, the Project Engineer executes scoped engineering project and program management work that helps deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role applies established methods to moderately complex challenges, coordinates with engineering, operations, maintenance, and business partners, and supports testing, validation, and continuous improvement at Hershey, the Sweetest Place on Earth.

The successful candidate will support the Kansas Hub and must be flexible to travel between all three Kansas locations (Lawrence, Lenexa, and Edgerton) as business needs require. This position may be based at either our Lawrence, KS or Edgerton, KS facility.

What will you do?
  • Execute assigned engineering project or program management tasks using established technical procedures, documented requirements, and Hershey standards.
  • Evaluate options and use system knowledge and data to recommend practical solutions to straightforward and moderately complex engineering or delivery issues.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders to align requirements, constraints, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Identifyproject dependencies, risks, and issues; elevate concerns promptly, support corrective actions, and track follow-ups through resolution.
  • Support capital project activities such as feasibility assessments, cost estimates, equipmentselection, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and training coordination.
  • Maintainclear project records, engineering documentation, and standard templates while supporting safety, quality, governance, traceability, and process improvement.

Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, program management, manufacturing, packaging, ora related technical area. Experience supporting projects in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent relevant engineering experience.

  • Demonstratedability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze data, evaluate options, and support testing and validation.
  • Strong project coordination, documentation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal partners, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
